Trish, What a burden you have right now. I would give anything for the power to lift your cares for a day. Try to take care of yourself, eat well, get plenty of sleep, so that you can be physically strong for what lies ahead. I don't know where your Aunt is doctoring but has she heard of the Brimhall Clinic in AZ? that is where Lance Armstrong was treated. I personally have several friends who has been there with amazing results. I will pray that the Lord keeps your grandaughter cradled in the palm of his hands until she is healed. This is the season of miracles. I will pray that they are given to you and your family this year. Holly H.

SantaMakers I have some very sad news to impart to you today. I received an email from our Trish late last evening. At 9:10 last night her mother passed away following a long and difficult illness. Additionally her aunt (one of Trish's dearest friends as well as her aunt and very close to Trish's age), who has been suffering with cancer was diagnosed with an additional cancer of the lungs. But perhaps the cruelest cut of all yesterday was the news that her tiny litttle granddaughter Meghan, just 2 months old, is very ill and will require heart suregery. she was born with what was thought to be a hole in her heart, but it has now been determined that the problem is instead a rare anomoly and is accompanied by complications. All of this in one day and just a little over a week before Christmas! And to Trish who has always been such a help and so supportive of those of us who do not have her talent. Please join me in sending condolences and prayers her way, not just for her aunt and Meghan, but for her as well as she struggles under this triple burden. Trish I cannot tell you how saddened I was to read your email. Please know that my prayers, tears, and sorrow travel across the miles to share with you your pain. Hoopie - I sent you a private email but it came back as undeliverable. When you unpack Abbie's Santa look carefully as there are accessory pieces scattered through out the packing noodles. I have just put a picture up of the magical santa ornament that Pat sent me. The detail is just wonderful would have needed to put up 4 pics to show all the work. Sitting on the back rockers of the horse is the sweetest little doll and on either side under santas feet their is a paper plane and toy soldier with little wrapped gifts. For whatever reasons, the pull toys always do well for me better than the pins, which do fairly well themselves. Back when we were young (geez , never did I think I would be saying that) remember how everyone and their dog wore Christmas corsages, the stores would overflow with a variety and it was serious business picking out a new one for the coming season. Well, that of course, isn't the case now and obviously shows in the not wearing of Santa pins. But most folks like little pull toys so I keep makin' em. Will post pic's today, finally got my tree decorated late last night. I began to think that wasn't going to happen this year.

Okay - I don't sell these but I have made them as gifts and had people tell me I should sell them. If you have a very good quality photo of one on your pieces make multiple copies. Glue the picture down to thin wood paneling - not that masonite stuff - you need real wood. Tell the lumber yard you will take the scratched stuff nobody else wants. Then with a scroll saw cut out around just the outline of your Santa - you know like those statuettes your kids get in little league or dance or . . . I start with a 5x7 photo so my end cut out is about 6" tall. Then I add the tiniest little screw eye I can get - have to screw it in with a tweezers! at the top and a gold thread hanger - Voila! an ornament. The other idea would be like the ornament I made for the swap this year. Printed on transparency & then sandwiched between glass. I make these for my family as I don't have the time to make or money to make them each a whole Santa. I also made the stauette ones from a larger print - 8x10 and put them on a base to stand up. I have to speak up for the opposition! I live in a hundred year old house. When we got this place we bought it to live & work in. Nobody else wanted it. The other guy who bid on it at the auction wanted to tear it down and use the staircase out of it. Anyway I tried for years to keep the fireplace and the built in china cabinent to maintain the "integrity" of the house. But you know what. They were both a pain in the butt. Because we moved the house we were treated as new construction and would have had to replace the chimney with triple wall at $300 an INCH!! Add that up for 2 1/2 stories plus clearance above the roof line. Plus whatever it cost to replace all the old plaster and lathe of the walls after the new chimney was installed. So the fireplace just sat in the corner taking up valuable space. We couldn't put a fire in it and we were always trying to be careful not to scratch or mar. The china cabinent was beautiful to look at but totally useless. The shelves with glass doors were too small to actually set dinner plates in - just salad plates or bowls. The drawers either stuck or fell out. The doors on the bottom - again the space was too small to store anything of any size. It took up a whole wall in my tiny storage challenged kitchen. So finally we took out both pieces and sold them (for more than we paid for the whole house) . Somebody bought them , took them home and loved them. I just got frustrated with them. I have lived in this house for 20+ years and I plan to live here 20 more. I can't see dealing with that stuff for 40 years of my life because maybe someday, down the road after I'm gone, somebody else might want the originals. By the way, we did preserve the 8' oak pocket door and the staircase plus we added antique french doors passed down in my husbands family. Holly H.

I make and sell ornaments and wreaths, at one point I made pins but I didn't do any of those in the past two years, there's just too much times involved in making them. Hi Brig! Is the fireplace front out of a "Sears" house? It sure looks like it. We had one that I had traded one of my 6 foot wooden Santas for but I finally sold it at auction. Just culdn't keep moving it around and it didn't fit very well in this house when we moved here. Didn't have a fireplace either here or the old house so it was just against the wall with a set of electric logs and a "hearth " of bricks. I sure loved that thing and it broke my heart to sell it, but boy, was it heavy! And awkward to move! Yours is lovely though-sp was mine--oh boy now I am missing it all over again! Brigitte, your decorations and house are beautiful. What are those marble topped tables? Baroque? I have a couple almost like them in the bedrooms upstairs. I ususally will recognize the period but can't see them well enough in your photos. Why did the prev. owners of your house take out the fireplaces. 'Course we all know they aren't very fuel efficient, but I'd trade that for beautiful any day. Love what you did though. Were you able to get the mantle and facing from an old house or did you have to have it made? There is an old three storied1880's stone house just up the road from my Mom's old house. The people who built it owned most of the property for about a half mile around it and had visions of an asparagus plantation...or so I've always heard....which didn't quite pan out. That was before the gov. came in and reorganized the county farms, aft. WWI , and the people sold to the gov. Anyway.. that house had 7 fireplaces it it. Beautiful woodwork, and the facings were imported Italian tile. The floors were inlaid hardwood of some sort..not oak, and the kitchen fireplace had carved slate tiles on the facing. Beautiful. Would have given much to have had that house. The people who bought it, took out all the fireplaces, tore up the floors, duh du duh. Just ruined it..in my opinion. So much for modernizing. I love all the antiques, anything old for that matter, but I don't think I would have gotten along too well in an earlier time. I'm too independent for that and would probably have been miserable because of it...besides...they didn't have polymer clays then. Hugs from Sherry

Yes Sherry,
I've did that house from basement to attic it has taken a year and a half. We gutted the entire thing, I went to the coast twice brought back many antiques as well as shopping locally, it was on the Christmas tour and was a big hit. Biggest job I've ever taken on in decorating. But it was fun.

Jill, Actually it was snowing a little when I took these photos..didn't last long though. Becki, Yep, the decorating is always a one woman thing. I think I'm finished for this year. I have 45 for dinner on Christmas day this year. I usually have a large arrangement on the big cross beam in the living, and the chandeliers there and the cupboards decorated in the kitchen, but I'm running out of time and still have to help the girls seed in the greenhouse and get some gifts made. Hope others will put up photos too. I think we need to delete them afer a while so as not to use up storage space for Santas, though. Hugs from Sherry

Hi, just tried to upload some of my pictures. But it won't let me,says I have exeeded my storagespace. But it shows that I HAVE storagespace ,I even took out 3 pictures out of my album...what is happening ? Brigitte ( by the way I am not getting the posts either )
